yoga + doughnuts

Today I had the unique opportunity of teaching a lecture on Mindfulness at a corporate training event for Krispy Kreme.

Yeah, I know what you're thinking...

What the fuck? Yoga and doughnuts don't seem to go together. I hear you... I thought the same thing at first.

But I knew if I walked in with judgement or an preconceived idea of how it would go, then I knew I would help no one. And I knew that my judgements would meet their judgements head on and create an explosion rather than an experience.

There were around 200 people in attendance and I know that I didn't reach everyone. But as I walked through the room I noticed a shift. As I guided them through breathing techniques and meditations I saw them not only relaxing their judgements but also opening up to share their own experiences and being vulnerable and courageous enough to ask questions. And at the end of the day there were more soulful head nods than eye rolls, people saying things like I want to do what you're doing and people waiting in the hallway with questions personal to them.

In the end, that's all you can really do. Get your shit straight and deliver your intention from a place of service and soul. And most importantly trust that you'll reach who you're meant to reach and hope the rest will find their own way towards wellness and wholeness.

Amen to companies who understand that supporting the wellbeing of their people is the only way to sustainably support the wellbeing of their company.
